Voices from NewsTools2008

Submitted by Josh on Wed, 05/14/2008 - 13:07.
We originally posted videos we gathered from NewsTools2008 on Ning group for the event. However, I wanted to pull some of the good ones over here.

Kevin Audleman came to explore ideas for spreading content for YES Magazine. In this interview, he shows that he gets it as he talks about allying with other sites to share articles and allow the community to offer feedback.

While this next video has some overflowing enthusiasm that may be hard to relate to if you weren't there, David Cohn has some great thoughts on the constructiveness of this conference vs. the hand-wringing of other gatherings.

The serenity Peggy Holman injected into her facilitation of parts of the conference set a great pace for a realistic, yet open outlook for what's to come in media. In this vid, she talks about good things moving forward.

Finally, Josh Wolf offers some constructive criticism for the conference. He's right. Ending a three-day decentralized meeting model with traditional panel discussions did have a claustrophobia to it.

We did try a lot of places to organize while we were at the conference. We had a Ning group, posted discussion group minutes to a wiki, Twittered, etc. I believe this matches the field we're playing in now where there are so many options of how to deliver information to people, the difficulty lies more in deciding on one thing.

David Cohn did a great job consolidating a lot of the media from the week and posted it to newstools2008.org. Check out his videos for some excellent interviews.
